Maximina Cruz Mantilla

Maximina Cruz Mantilla is 62 years old and lives in the Usquil district of Otuzco Province, La Libertad, Peru. She is divorced and is a member of the Cachanchugo II Communal Bank. She stayed in school only until grade 6 because at a young age she began working in the fields. She became pregnant at age 17 and had a daughter who no longer lives with her.

Because of family problems, Maximina left her home town with her young children, and since then has lived in Cachanchugo. She is separated from her second marriage. In spite of the pain and sadness of her family situation, she persevered, along with her children. When she arrived in Cachanchugo, she worked as a contract agricultural laborer. She began with planting, and later began caring for guinea pigs as well. Little by little, she was able to raise her five children who now are independent and give her economic and moral support.

Maximina now works planting corn in nearby farms but, because of health problems, she has recently not been able to work. With her first loan of 300 soles, Maximina bought guinea pigs and started into the business of raising them. With this loan of 400 soles ($150), she will till and fertilize her land for a new crop of lentils and corn. Maximina anxiously awaits the harvest, which will be within six months, because with her earnings she will be able to save some money.

La señora MAXIMINA CRUZ MANTILLA tiene 62 años de edad, vive en el distrito de Usquil, provincia de Otuzco, departamento de La Libertad, Perú.
Maximina es divorciada y es socia del Banco Comunal Cachanchugo II.
La empresaria presenta estudios hasta 6to de primaria , refiere que desde pequeña se dedico al campo. Quedo embarazada a la edad de 17 años, tuvo una hija la cual ya no vive con ella.

A raíz de un problema familiar, Maximina abandonó el pueblo donde vivía en compañía de sus menores hijos y desde entonces vive en Cachanchugo. Está separada de su segundo compromiso.
A pesar de su dolor y tristeza debido al problema familiar, ella sigue adelante junto a sus menores hijos.
Cuando llegó a Cachanchugo empezó a trabajar sembrando en las chacras de quienes la contrataban, pero luego también empezó a criar sus cuyes, cerdos y poco a poco logró sacar a sus hijos adelante.
Tiene 5 hijos y ninguno dependen económicamente de ella, cuenta con el apoyo económico y moral de ellos.
MAXIMINA se dedica actualmente a sembrar maíz en sus chacras que se encuentran en otro pueblo aledaño, pero por motivos de salud hace 1 semana que no esta yendo a la chacra.
Con su primer crédito de 300 soles compró sus cuyes y empezó a dedicarse a la crianza y reproducción de cuyes.
Con este crédito de 400 soles, piensa invertir en arar y fertilizar sus tierras para su nueva cosecha de lenteja y maíz.
MAXIMINA espera con ansias la cosecha que será dentro de seis meses, con esa cosecha podrá ahorrar algo de dinero.
