Benkadi Group

The members of the Benkadi group are all married women. Their average age is 35 years old and they have, on average, two children. They live with each of their husbands, children and extended family in the Banankabougou neighbourhood of Fana, in the Koulikoro Region of Mali.

These women work in a variety of trades ranging from selling various items to running restaurants. They learned about the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso through friends.

They are on their fifth solidarity loan. Their previous loans were all fully and properly repaid.

They plan to buy lengths of cloth, cereals and a large quantity of condiments at the Bamako market to then sell to a rich and varied clientele at the Fana market.

They hope to each make a monthly profit of 20,000 XOF, which will go towards their businesses and children’s healthcare and schooling.

Les membres du groupe Benkadi sont des femmes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 35 ans et 2 enfants. Elles vivent avec leur mari et enfants dans des familles élargies dans le quartier Banankabougou de la ville de Fana, Région de Koulikoro République du Mali.
Ces femmes font des activités diverses qui vont du commerce d’articles divers à la restauration. Elles ont fait la connaissance de l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso à travers des liens d’amitiés.
Elles sont à leur cinquième prêt solidaire et tous les prêts précédents ont été correctement remboursés.
Elles comptent acheter, des pagnes et tissus, des céréales, et une grosse quantité de condiments alimentaires sur le marché de Bamako et effectuer leurs ventes sur le marché de Fana à une clientèle riche et variée.
Elles comptent obtenir chacune un bénéfice mensuel de 20.000 FCFA qui sera utilisé dans l’activité, dans les frais de santé et d’éducation des enfants.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
