The Danaya group is made up of 6 married women, with an average age of 28 and on average, 3 children. They mostly live in monogamous families in Médine, one of the neighborhoods of the town of Sikasso, 3rd administrative region of Mali. They have various businesses, among others selling African “waxcloth”, soap, cosmetics, etc. After having correctly reimbursed the four preceding loans, they are on their 5th loan, working together with Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution, with the intention of satisfying their customers’ needs. They paid back their previous loan three week early.

With this new loan, they intend to buy 20 lengths of African “waxcloth”, 30 cartons of soaps and 10 dozen cosmetic items. They do their buying in the big market of Sikasso town and surrounding areas. The goods are sold in the markets, walking around the neighborhoods, or in their families, to a clientele composed of men and women, and mostly for cash.

They each expect to make an average monthly profit of 23,000 F CFA, of which a part will be invested back into their businesses and the rest put away as savings.
