Sophie Fao

Sophie Fotu is a 66-year-old woman living in the town of Auala. She is married and has fourteen grown children. To make a living, Sophie owns and operates a business running a food stall. Her main source of income from the business comes from selling beef products in the local community. Sophie has been engaged in this business for over two years and earns approximately $160 a month from these activities.

In 2008, Sophie joined SPBD to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. Sophie has successfully repaid a previous loan of 750 WST from SPBD. That loan was used to purchase additional products to sell. Sophie is now requesting a new loan of 1500 WST, which will also be used to buy more products to sell. This will be her second loan from SPBD. Sophie plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to pay the tuition fees of her children.
