Jessica is a 37 year old single mother. She lives with her three children, ages 11, 9, and 6. They live in Asentamiento Humano Saul Cantoral in the outskirts of the city of Chiclayo.

Fifteen years ago she started selling food dishes on the outside of the bus depot of the city of Chiclayo. During this time she has been supported in this business in order to get her family ahead. Her work starts very early and goes until the afternoon. Then she buys the supplies to prepare her dishes for the following day. She usually sells “ceviche” (a popular local fish dish), “papa rellena” (stuffed potato), and “tortas de choclo” (a dish made with ground corn). Her charisma and the good seasoning she uses to prepare her dishes have served to maintain her customers during all of this time.

She is father and mother at the same time to her minor children. They go to a state school near the place where they live. Her biggest wish is to be able assure them in the future of some type of advanced education, which they can use to earn a living. She also wishes to finish building her house because it is still made of adobe, a material made of mud used to build houses.

That is why she is asking the Institution for a loan for the third time. She is asking for 2,500 PEN, which will allow her to expand her business and, therefore, achieve her objectives.

Jessica has worked with us previously, and she has demonstrated responsibility and punctuality with her payments. She is, therefore, considered an excellent client. Her neighbors in the community consider her a determined and exemplary mother.
