Savior Group

Kennedy is forty five years old. He is married and a father with four kids who are currently in school. He is a dealer in hardware goods like nails, hammers, paint, roofing sheets, head-pans (containers with handles used in construction), etc. Through this business he has won for himself many customers who buy from his stand and he has added the sale of cement to his inventory. This, he said, has retained most of his customers who try to buy all their hardware goods from him.

Kennedy buys his supplies from importers at wholesale prices and sells to his customers at retail prices. He requests a loan to enable him to procure an increased stock of goods. He hopes to increase his savings to expand his shop to include other items which are frequently demanded by his customers.

Kennedy is the leader of a trust bank group called “Savior”. He is the one sitting in the group photograph. The other members in this group are petty traders, food vendor, hardware sellers and farmers, etc.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
