Arminda Podador, 55, has been a widow for years but lives her life to the fullest. She lives in Parola, Tondo, Manila with her 2 adult children who are already both working.

Arminda owns and manages a restaurant near the dockyards of Manila International Containers Terminal (MICT). She likes working at the restaurant hands-on because she gets to meet a lot of people. She earns a net income of P 60,000 a month. What really makes her proud about being in business is her ability to employ other people. Her restaurant has three assistants.

Since joining the Center for Community Transformation (CCT) Credit Cooperative in 2007, Arminda has learned the value of saving for the future. Just recently, Arminda ventured into shipping bananas from Davao which she delivers to fruit vendors in the nearby market. She has found this business to be very rewarding, considering her restaurant’s location near the seaport.

Arminda needs a loan of P 50,000 as additional capital for her new venture, shipment of bananas. She also wishes to open another restaurant in another area.

About CCT

The Center for Community Transformation (CCT) is an organized Christian response against poverty and social injustice. This is carried out through the fusion of social development initiatives and evangelical mission in a uniquely Filipino context. It serves urban and rural poor communities throughout the Philippines, in pursuit of its desire to see changed lives, strong families, and transformed communities centered in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

CCT is a member of the Five Talents family.

Borrower Update

Entrepreneur: Arminda Podador
Location: Manila City, Philippines

Dear Lender,

Arminda would like to extend her thanks for granting her the additional capital she needed. She personally wants to shake each and every hand of every lender who pooled their resources for the PHP50,000 loan. As of the moment she is busy with her canteen - her hands full with cooking viands and serving soft drinks to her hungry patrons. She spent the money on raw ingredients for dishes and meals served in the canteen, to include poultry, beef, pork and fish but also for vegetables, rice, cooking oil, condiments and spices, dairy and other food ingredients for her cooked food and eatery business. She also used the money for the maintenance of the canteen.
