Doña Reyna Jirón es una joven comerciante, que a sus 26 años de edad, posee un puesto de comida en el mercado Roberto Huembes de la Ciudad de Managua; uno de los principales centros de comercio de la capital.

Inicio su negocio a sus 16 años de edad, por motivos de necesidad económica en su hogar, vendiendo chinelas en una esquina del mercado; luego inicio la venta de tarjetas telefónicas, zapatos. Cuando empezaba a ver mejores ganancias, nos cuenta que los movieron del lugar debido a que se encontraban informales en las entradas del mercado. Esto le afecto mucho puesto que los trasladaron a tramos fijos donde venden las personas con mayores capitales. No obstante decidió asumir el reto e ingenió iniciar la venta de comida en el local ayudada de créditos que le proporcionaban prestamistas del sector (Altos intereses); Esto hasta que conoció ADIM. Actualmente vende comidas a mayores cantidades a los comerciantes del sector.

Sus padres le ayudan en el negocio, su mamá cocina y su papá hace las compras, de esta manera se ayudan mutuamente y han salido adelante con el negocio.

Su crédito pretende invertirlo en la compra a mayor cantidad de granos básicos, para así adquirir mejores precios y ver mayores ganancias. Afirma que los créditos de ADIM le han ayudado mucho, es su cuarto ciclo y pretende seguir adelante.

Inicio sus créditos como grupo solidario y debido a su buen record crediticio, ahora trabaja de manera individual.



Important Information About This Loan
In mid 2008, a movement began in Nicaragua called “Movimiento No Pago” (a movement for non-payment of loans). This movement, supported mostly by farmers of the north of Nicaragua with ties to the left-wing party in Nicaragua, has been organizing protests and making it difficult for some branches of microfinance institutions to operate normally. This movement has been fed by the global the economic crisis, which has made it more difficult for Nicaraguans to pay back their loans. This group has submitted a law to the government to create a moratorium on debt repayment. If passed, the law could have a severe effect on the microfinance industry and banking sector in Nicaragua. Recent information indicates that the situation may be improving as the President of Nicaragua has spoken out against this law and would not support its passage in its current form. The network of microfinance institutions in Nicaragua (ASOMIF) has been negotiating with the government in support of an alternative proposal. Kiva, along with 25 other funders from 9 countries, has signed onto a letter to the Nicaraguan government urging a resolution to this situation without enacting a moratorium on debt repayment. The potential passage of the debt moratorium increases the risk of lending in Nicaragua.
