Hech Nuth

Hech Nuth, age 23, is married and has a young child. She lives with her husband and her child in the Takeo province. She is engaged in a business of selling Cambodian traditional cakes made from palm fruit, earning approximately $3 per day. Her husband is employed in a private club in the city, earning an income of $2 per day.

The financial crisis has been difficult for business in Cambodia this past year. This factor has played into a difficult economic year for much of the country, Nuth included. The country's economic struggles always seem to affect the poor the most. In light of the country's economic difficulties, Nuth is seeking to increase her income. She is asking for a loan of $500 to purchase a motorbike and its trailer to transport her cakes to sell in the village and other nearby places. By doing so, she hopes she will be able to generate more income and save more money to raise a good standard of living.
