Joely Miguel (fourth from left) has a fledgling fresh juice sales business just outside of Samaná, Dominican Republic. This is her second loan with Esperanza, and Joely is excited to continue to see her business grow.

Living with her mother, father and sister, Joely is happy to be brining in an income of her own to support herself and her 10 month old daughter. This new loan will allow Joely to purchase ice for her juice, which is a significant purchase. She can use this ice to make sure her drinks are colder for her customers, and can also use a blender to create icy fruit drinks – very important for her business during the hot Dominican summer.

In the future, Joely dreams of owning her own house for herself and her daughter, and going into some other type of business. Since this is her first venture into the world of sales, selling juice from her mother’s house – where juice was sold previously – is a good place to get her feet wet. As this loan grows and Joely gains experience, she hopes to see another business opportunity to start with a future loan.
