Ouk Navy

Ouk Navy, age 27, is married and has four children. She lives with her husband and her children in Phnom Penh City. She is employed in a local garment factory, earning approximately US$2 per day. To make a living, her husband operates a business as a motor-taxi driver, earning US$5 per day which is the primary source of income for her family.

The financial crisis has been difficult for business in Cambodia this past year. This factor has played into a difficult economic year for much of the country, Navy included. The country's economic struggles always seem to affect the poor the most.

In light of the country's economic difficulties, Navy is seeking to increase her income. She is asking for a loan of US$800 to buy a new motorbike for her husband because the old motorbike is usually broken and consumes a lot of gasoline. By doing so, she believes that her husband will be able to generate maximum income to raise a good standard of living for the family.
