Constance Tumuhirwe

Constance Tumuhirwe is a client of Pearl Microfinance in Ntungamo. She is 40 years old and married with 4 children ages 18-26. She also cares for 4 orphans who all attend school. She is a businesswoman who has been in commercial agriculture since 1982. Although she faces challenges like seasonality and price fluctuations, she is able to make weekly profits of between 60,000 – 90,000 UGX from the sale of matooke alone. She sells in three different locations - Kakungu village, Omungyenyi county and Rubaare subcounty - and one day she hopes to sell in just one location because transporting the produce to all these places is expensive and tiresome. The profits she makes enable her to educate her children so they can become self reliant. This is why she requests a loan to help purchase manure and tools for modernizing her farming practices.
