Digna Montemayor, a 57-year-old widow, lives with her eight adult children, three of whom are already working. They live in Merryhomes Subd., Novaliches, Caloocan City. Fifteen years ago, Digna Montemayor started her general store business with a handful of items to sell and a few hundred pesos in investments. Now, she makes daily sales of up to P2,000.

Digna joined the Center for Community Transformation (CCT) Credit Cooperative in 2008. She is now on her fifth loan cycle and has applied for a new loan in the amount of P14,000 which she will use to buy more items to sell in her store. She hopes to expand the business in the future so she can help employ some of her neighbors.

She utilized PHP 10,000 of the Php 14,000(USD 300) amount she loaned on added stocks for her variety store that she owns and manages. She also invested PHP 2,000 on mobile phone load credits as an added business, while the remaining PHP 2,000 was used for the schooling of her child. She is currently saving up the extra income she receives to look for other ways to earn money.
