Soledad

Soledad is a member of the Purple Christ communal bank. She is 45 years-old, single, and has four children. Her two youngest children who are 28 and 14 years-old live with her the her youngest goes to school at the local public school.

Soledad works out of her house and has several different trades making sacks, weaving sweaters, making woodcrafts, and selling fabric. She began her business selling sheets and comforters with money borrowed from FINCA. Her neighborhood is dangerous and says she is constantly cautious. Her greatest enjoyment is spending time with her kids. She says FINCA has been a tremendous help to her economically and that she is learning the value of saving.

Soledad needs a loan for 1,200 soles to buy 10 more comforters and sheets. Her dream is to open a kindergarten for children on the land she has already bought.
