Otgontsetseg Sangaa

Otgontsetseg is a hardworking single mother who lives with her three children in Arkhangai province in central Mongolia. She has operated a dairy trade business since 2001. She purchases her goods directly from herders and sells them at her stall in the local market, XACU. She generates most of her income during the spring, summer and fall months. These seasons are busiest due to the dairy milking period. During the busiest months, her oldest daughter helps out during her summer vacation from school.

As her business has grown, she has gained much experience in the dairy trade business and as a businesswoman. Her business has been profitable: her capital has increased to more than four times its start-up amount. As a single mother, her business is very important for her family. She says, “As my business grows better, I'd like to make savings for my children's future.” She is requesting an 800,000 tugrugs loan (~ $552 US) to purchase supplies and expand her business.
