Update on Albertina's Rope Selling Business Entrepreneur: Albertina López Herrera Location: Chinandega, Nicaragua Albertina sells rope on a shady street corner in Chinandega, a small city in northwestern Nicaragua. Albertina was not there when we stopped by so we talked to her employee (who is in the picture). Albertina used her credit to buy many different types of rope to stock her business. Since she received her loan, her business has improved her employee said. She is able to sell a lot more. Overall, however, this is a hard time for the business. The economic crisis has affected her business greatly. The price of rope has gone up and clients are buying less. In the future, Albertina hopes to offer more than just rope in her store. She has been selling rope for 20 years. She has always sold her rope in open air situations as opposed to inside a market or store.
