Trinidad Sevillano Gomez is 40-years-old. She lives in Veracruz with her husband and mother in a town called El Porvenir, which is very close to the Port of Veracruz. She is quite well known in her area because she is so hard-working and enterprising.

Doña Trini, as she’s known in her town, started out as a farm worker with her husband, and later earned her living selling seasonal fruits like mangos, black sapote, pomegranates, and plums. That’s only a seasonal business, though, so she started buying and selling pigs, which she’s been doing for 10 years. She says it’s been a really good business because it has allowed her to achieve a higher standard of living.

She requested a loan from Fundación Realidad because she plans to invest in her business by purchasing more pigs so she can sell the pork products. Her goal is to be able to have her own store, since she currently sells in the open air and has to shut down when the weather is bad.

Doña Trini belongs to a group called “El Porvenir”, along with 9 other people. They are seeking a loan for 23,000 pesos to invest in their businesses, which include sales of milk, cheese, shoes, clothing, food, etc. They all share the goal of improving their families’ standard of living and getting ahead with their businesses.
