Houenafa was born around 1974 at Cotonou, the economic capital of the Benin Republic, where she continues to live today. Houenafa is married to Felix Zoungni, the head of the Zogbo district in Cotonou. She is the mother of six children of whom two are deceased and only two are currently enrolled in school. Three years ago Houenafa began selling food. She sold fried rice to private school children not far from the Zogbo district. To this business she added the sale of donuts made of wheat flour. She has also added the sale of corn noodles, locally known as akassa, accompanied with fried fish to her business. Houenafa has already benefited from four loans from ALIDe; these loans have been fully repaid and were used to help her develop the business described above. Houenafa is asking for her fifth loan in an effort to grow this business and better satisfy her customers.
