Mrs. Savoeun Khan, 33, has been a silk weaver for eight years – a skill she learned from her sister. She sells her finished products to a middleman in the village, who then takes them to sell at the market in Phnom Penh. Her husband, Mr. Chamroeun Chea, 36, has been a mason for about seven years.
Savoeun has requested one previous loan from Kiva through MAXIMA. Now she is asking for a second loan of $1100 US to purchase silk materials to continue her silk weaving business.
Savoeun and her husband live in a small village across the Mekong River about 15 kilometers from Phnom Penh. They married in 1995 and have two children: one son and one daughter. Both children are in school and assist their mother with the silk weaving business when they are not in school.
