Nut Chanthorn

Nut Chanthorn, 28, is married and has 2 young children who are not yet enrolled in school. She lives with husband in Kampong Cham Province. She is a subsistence farmer who grows just enough rice for her family to eat. Her husband sells soy-milk and making $3.30 USD per day.

The financial crisis has been difficult for business in Cambodia this past year, and inflation struggles have affected all Cambodians. These factors have resulted in a difficult economic year for much of the country, Chanthorn included. The country’s economic struggles always seem to affect the poor most.

In light of the country’s economic difficulties, Chanthorn is seeking to increase her income and improve her business. She is asking for a loan of US $300 to purchase a trailer and an ice box so her husband can more easily transport the soy milk because his business is the primary source of income for her family.
