Karina Pacaya Leandro

Karina is 22 years old and is studying law and political science at the National University of Ucayali in the city of Pucallpa. Karina has been working with Kiva partner Manuela Ramos for a little more than two years and belongs to the communal bank, "Los Manguitos" (The Little Mangoes). Karina dedicates herself to her studies and also works at the social program "A Crecer" (Toward Growth), a government enterprise which helps poor women and their families.

Karina invests in a small food stand/cafe run by her mother and two employees at the Amazonian Intercultural University (UNIA). She plans to use this loan of 1,300 Nuevos Soles to invest in basic food products for her mother's cafe. Karina hopes to continue to finance her university studies with profits from this little business, in which she also invested her very first loan of 300 soles (about $100) from Manuela Ramos.

Karina is very thankful for the financial support from Manuela Ramos. She is committed to being responsible with her loan and punctual in her payments.
