Meng Penh

Meng Penh, age 30, works in the weaving business, typically making $3 US per day. In Cambodia, the traditional method of weaving requires hard work and time to produce the best outputs that will receive competitive prices at the market. Penh and her husband work hard to ensure that their family, including a seven-year-old child attending a local primary school, can live comfortably. Meng's husband works at home selling vegetables and snacks from their house, and, like Meng, makes around $3 US per day. Meng wants to take out a loan for $800 US so that her husband can expand his shop's inventory by buying rice and other goods. They plan to use the money for general household expenses and saving for their child's future education.
