Teresa Tivane Chauque

Teresa Tivane Chauque is 48 years old and is a native of Guija in Gaza province. She moved from Guija to Boane with her parents when she was a child.

Teresa works in the Boane central market mainly selling produce, her best selling products being onions and potatoes. She is able to buy a sack of potatoes for MT 70 and sell them for MT 110 and buy a sack of onions for MT 80 and sell them for MT 140. She has been working in the market for the past twenty years and originally learned her trade in Swaziland.

Teresa is requesting this loan to help further diversify her products to satisfy customer demand. This will be her second loan with Hluvuku. Her first loan was for MT 10,000. Teresa earns around MT 10,000 a month and is able to set aside money each month in a savings account at the BIM bank.

Teresa studied through the ninth grade but was forced to stop due to pregnancy and the necessity to properly raise her child. She is married to a mechanic and is the mother of four children aged 18, 22, 24 and 26. She also supports two nieces and her mother, to whom she sends remittance payments.
