Jekafo 2 De Toura Kalaga Group

The JEKAFO 2 group is made of married women of the Toura Nabitokan village, in the city of SAN (Ségou Region, fourth administrative region of the Republic of Mali), who live in traditional families. They average 35 years of age and 4 children. They grow peanuts.

Eager to make their agricultural businesses profitable, the members of the JEKAFO 2 group decided to join the loan program of Kiva's partner, Soro Yiriwaso, two years ago. After having repaid the previous loan without problems, they are now seeking their second farming loan.

This loan will be used to buy, exclusively at the grand market in Kimparana, a sufficient quantity of peanut seeds, small materials, and fertilizers for the fields. After the rainy season, the crops are stored for a while to gain market value, before being sold at the grand market in Kimparara and in the surrounding markets, retail (often wholesale) and for cash, to a clientele usually coming from the larger cities.

After selling their products, the members of the JEKAFO 2 group count on turning a profit of XOF 35000 to 25000 (ca US$ 78 to 55) each, to be used to repay the loan and to pay for the daily expenses of their families.

Le groupe JEKAFO 2 est constitué de femmes mariées du village de Toura Kalaga de la ville de SAN région de SEGOU (quatrième région administrative de la république du Mali) qui vivent dans des familles traditionnelles. Elles ont en moyenne 35 ans, 4 enfants et cultivent de l’arachide.
Dans le souci de rentabiliser leurs exploitations agricoles, les membres du groupe JEKAFO 2 ont décidé d’intégrer le programme crédit de Soro Yiriwaso depuis maintenant 2 ans. Après avoir correctement remboursé le prêt précédent, elles sont à leur deuxième prêt de campagne.
Le prêt actuel sera utilisé pour acheter, une quantité suffisante de semence d’arachide, des petits matériels et des intrants pour la culture, exclusivement au grand marché de Kimparana ville. Après l’hivernage, les récoltes sont stockées pendant un certain temps pour qu’elles aient de la valeur avant d’être vendues au grand marché de Kimparana et dans les marchés environnants, en détail (souvent en gros), au comptant à une clientèle venant généralement des grandes villes.
Les membres du groupe JEKAFO 2 comptent réaliser chacune, après l’écoulement de leurs produits agricoles, un bénéfice de 35 000 à 25 000 FCFA qui sera utilisé pour le remboursement des intérêts du prêt et les dépenses courantes de la famille.
