Mr. Chhem Um is a 52-year-old, a married father who cares for his three school-aged children. His wife, Mok Vy, who appears in the photograph, is 44 years old. She works by selling a few grocery items for a daily profit. Chhem Um owns a small brick oven in his home where he makes bread for sale. He also takes his bread to sell to his regular customers who are retailers in and around the market. Although he has more clients, his supply is not enough to meet his customers' requirements. Therefore, he would like a loan from Kiva’s partner, HKL. He will use this loan to build a new brick oven where he can make even more bread.
