Damiana Rubio is the group leader of the solidarity group Fuente de Bendicion (or Fountain of Blessing). This group is made up of friends and neighbors in the small coastal town of Sabana de la Mar.
With this loan, Damiana will buy fruit, vegetables and habichuelas (Dominican beans) which are used in a popular Dominican bean dish. Damiana has already repaid two loans and is excited to take out a bigger loan to grow her business even more.
Damiana is a 39-year-old mother of four (ages 16,14,12, and 9) and since starting her business, she has been able to make sure all of them go to school. Her dream is to grow her businesses enough to be able to send them to college.
