Rubina baji has lived in Lahore, Pakistan, since past 15 years. The city of Lahore is famous for its historical places and Punjabi foods. Rubina baji is uneducated because her parents had little financial resources and couldn’t send her to school. She is married to Muhammad Zahid Mahmood, who has a soft toys selling business. He has a strong client base as he offers a variety in toys. Rubina baji is a hardworking lady. She prepares embroidered clothes at home by taking orders from neighbors and relatives. She saves income in a committee and plans to renovate her house with the committee amount. She is applying for a loan to buy soft toys to expand her husband’s business.

There are four additional borrowers for this loan:

Naseem baji wants a loan to buy food ingredients (lentils, cooking oil and spices) for her food-selling business.
Abida baji wants a loan to buy seasonal fruits to sell.
Shumaila baji wants a loan to buy embroidered materials (beads, colored thread and patterns) for preparing embroidered dresses.
Khalida baji wants a loan to buy colored thread and tools for her carpet-weaving business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
