Ayush Bandi

Ayush Bandi is 57 years old and lives with his wife and 18-year-old daughter in Ovorhangai province, one of Mongolia's central provinces. His daughter is a senior student in a local high school. Ayush started a small shoe-making business with his wife in the early 1990s. He decided to pursue a small private business after the Mongolian economy translated into a free market economy in the 1990s. Ayush makes warm traditional boots. Their customers are mostly herders who need warm and well-built shoes for harsh winters. Since they have been in the business almost twenty years, they receive shoe-orders from many herders from different parts of the country. Ayush says that he would like expand his business by purchasing a specialized sewing machine that has the capacity to sew hard materials. The sewing machine will let him produce shoes more efficiently and less costly. Ayush's and his wife's ultimate hope is to make sure that his daughter receives a good education and pursues her dream. He requests a loan to purchase a sewing machine for his shoe-making business.
