Armando Romero Fallas is 26-year-old man. He lives with his wife and daughter in a rural community in Costa Rica called Mollejones de Platanares, Pérez Zeledón. Mollejones is a community located 150 kilometers south of the province of San José, the capital of Costa Rica. It is 850 meters above sea level. Vegetables and coffee are cultivated here, and they also carry out other activities such as raising cattle and pigs to fatten. There are also some organic agriculture projects and hydroponic vegetables. In addition to agriculture, there are also mechanic shops, a supermarket, small restaurants (called ‘sodas’), and a furniture store in the community.

Armando has worked in transport since he was 18 years old. His job is to travel around the country delivering merchandise with his truck. His work hours are very long and busy.

Because he has used his truck so much to travel, it has suffered different damages and it is not in very good condition. As a result, he is asking for a loan of 685,000 CRC for the repair and purchase of spare parts for his vehicle because if it is not in appropriate condition, he cannot do his job effectively.

Armando is part of the Bancruce Communal Finance Institution, one of the 100 partner organizations of EDESA in Costa Rica. This will be his first loan, but Armando emphasizes that thanks for this type of organization and their means for facilitating loans, he can dedicate more time to productive activities.
