Eddy Gerardo Padilla Segura is a 33 year old man living in a rural community of Costa Rica called San Cristóbal Norte, 45 kilometers south of San José. San Cristóbal is a hilly area where people work in areas such as trade, agriculture (vegetables, coffee, and other crops), handicrafts, livestock farming, and many other areas. Eddy lives with his wife Xinia, who is the homemaker, and with their two daughters Maricruz and Yirlany.

Eddy works mainly in agriculture specializing in vegetables. He says he has been doing this almost all his life. He has a farm where he has planted different vegetables and tubers. At the moment, the products he has at his farm are tomatoes and potatoes.

Right now, he wants to request a loan for ¢650,000 (six hundred fifty thousand colónes) to buy different foods and fertilizers, and to hire a farmhand, since it is very difficult to get everything done himself. With this he hopes that the harvest will be big and of good quality; he also wishes that his business will grow and help him to succeed in generating income to improve his standard of living.

Eddy belongs to Empresa de Crédito Comunal San Cristóbal Norte (SACRIN), one of the 100 organizations partnered with EDESA in Costa Rica. He has received 5 small loans and has repayed them responsibly. He says that, thanks to these loans, he has been able to better develop himself and grow as a person. He also feels very happy that he has been able to provide his young daughters with the opportunity to study.
