Winfrida Mwipwelesya

Mambo (Greetings!) from Tanzania! This is 43-year-old Winfrida Mwipwelesa from Mbeya. She is widow with 2 children, ages 16 and 22. Winfrida has been running a shop since 2005. She sells items for use in the home, like rice, maize flour, cooking oil, salt, etc. She works at the business for 9-12 hours per day, 7 days per week and is assisted by one employee. Winfrida currently earns about $100 USD a month from her business. She is requesting a loan in order to purchase additional stocks of rice, sugar, salt, cooking oil and soda. SELFINA has taken a lead role as a pioneer of micro-credit in Tanzania through Micro-Leasing. The organization is engaged in the economic empowerment of women in Tanzania through the provision of a leasing and leaseback microfinance facility.
