Emilio Gutierrez Rejas

Thank you for your loan. It has been disbursed to Emilio Gutierrez Rejas by CIDRE in Bolivia. We are excited to watch this business grow. Over the 34 months of this loan, CIDRE will be collecting repayments from this entrepreneur and posting progress updates on the Kiva website.

Emilio Guitiérrez Rejas is 50 years old and is single. He lives with his mother in Cochabamba in a neighborhood on the edges of town. He takes care of his mother because he is her only child. He has worked with dairy cattle for 20 years and produces cheese, which he sells at a local market.

Last Thursday, I was able to stop by Emilio’s home to see how his loan cycle went. Emilio used his loan of $1,200 to purchase cattle feed for his livestock. He chose to do this instead of purchasing another dairy cow, because buying quality cattle feed can pay off as the dairy cows are able to produce a better quality and quantity of milk with the right food.

He reports that he bought both soy husks and corn husks for the cattle to eat, and the milk has in fact increased in both quantity and quality. Emilio’s brother is also a CIDRE borrower and neither of them have had any problems making their loan repayments in a timely fashion.

Emilio’s dream is to continue growing his livestock population and purchase additional cows in the future, so he can grow his earnings more and more. Check out the photo below, taken of Emilio last Thursday!
