Kishwar Rasheed Ahmad Group

Kishwar baji, shown in the center of the photo, has lived in Chichawatni, Pakistan for the past 14 years. Her husband, Rasheed Ahmad, has worked as an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle) driver for the past three years. Kishwar baji has spent her time taking care of her family, and now all of her children are settled and enjoying their lives. She is requestiing a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw because her husband is currently driving a rented one and pays half of his income to the owner.

This group loan consists of four additional people:

Nusrat Rasheed baji, who wants a loan to buy timber to sell;
Kosar Anjum baji, who wants a loan to buy clothes to sell;
Shazia baji, who wants a loan to buy cold drinks for her drink corner;
Zahida Sadiq baji, who wants a loan to buy a sewing machine for sewing clothes.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members guarantee one another's loans, so if one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
