Benkadi Group

The four women of the group Benkadi are all married and average 25 years of age and three children. They live for the most part in monogamous families in Hamdallaye, a district of Sikasso City (third administrative region of Mali). The women run diverse businesses, including the sale of children's clothing and firewood.

The group members are collaborating with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso to satisfy the needs of their customers and are now on their third solidarity loan. The two preceding ones have been settled.

With this new loan, they intend to buy 20 packages of children's clothing and 50 cart loads of firewood. Supplies are gotten essentially at the grand market of Sikasso City. The merchandise is sold mostly in cash transactions at the Hamdallaye market in an itinerant manner in the area and also at the grand market. The customers are composed of men and women.

The group members each envision realizing an average monthly profit of 11,500 francs CFA. Part of the profits will be used for family needs, and the other part will be put into savings. Certain women in the group have the ambition of buying a plot of land on which to live, and the others, becoming individual clients.

Les quatre femmes du groupe Benkadi sont toutes mariées, avec une moyenne d’âge de 25 ans et 3 enfants. Elles vivent la plupart dans des familles monogames à Hamdallaye un des quartiers de la ville de Sikasso (3ème région administrative du Mali).
Elles mènent diverses activités qui sont entre autres la vente d’habits pour enfants et du bois de chauffe.
Elles collaborent avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso afin de satisfaire le besoin de leur clientèle et sont à leur troisième prêt solidaire, tous les deux précédents se sont bien dénoués.
Avec ce nouveau prêt, elles comptent acheter 20 colis d’habits pour enfants, 50 chargements de charrettes en bois de chauffe. Elles s’approvisionnent essentiellement au grand marché de Sikasso ville. Les marchandises sont vendues au marché de Hamdallaye de façon ambulante, dans le quartier et au grand marché à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes et la plupart au comptant.
Elles envisagent réaliser chacune un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 11.500 FCFA dont une partie sera utilisée pour les besoins de la famille et l’autre partie sera mise en épargne.
Certaines femmes du groupe Benkadi ambitionnent acheter un terrain à usage d’habitation et d’autres devenir des clientes individuelles.
