The entrepreneurial bank Kalamarka has worked with our institution since March 31, 2007. The majority of the female participants sell fruit and other food; most of the men are drivers. This bank is notable because men have participated in it from the very beginning; the members are currently 50 percent men and 50 percent women. To date, they have not had any problems because the members are united and organized.
The president of the bank is Adela Durán, who grows and sells fruit. She owns a piece of land in Sapahaqui, and brings her products to sell them directly in the El Tejar and Rodríguez markets. With the loans provided by the institution, she has been able to improve her production using grafting and pest control, which has enabled her to diversify and increase her production, thus earning more money and improving her family's quality of life.
Moisés Condori Chura is the treasurer. He is a taxi driver who owns his own car, and has been able to use the loans to save up and repair his vehicle. He plans to use this loan to buy another vehicle and improve the quality of life of his family of four.
Lourdes Mujica Huanca has a small family of three. She sells food. She will use the loan to buy some bulk and wholesale consumables such as rice, pasta, potatoes, and oil. This will protect her from rising prices so she can increase her earnings in her business.
There are 11 people in the photograph. Luis Fernando Mamani Mamani is present along with his wife.
