Walekafesa I Group

This is Fanta Koroma, Kaday Koroma, Finah Mansaray, Iye Mansaray and Aminata Turay. They call their group Walekafesa I. They are small-scale businesswomen from the village of Heremakono, about ten miles from Kabala town, in the Koinadugu district, northern Sierra Leone. They are requesting loans of Le 800,000 each to help them improve the amount and quality of goods they sell. This will enable them to make better sales, improve profit, and to achieve a better standard of living.

Fanta Koroma (left) is the leader of this group. Fanta is a farmer and also a petty trader. With this loan, she will buy seeds and pay laborers to help her plough the land. Fanta plants cassavas and potatoes. She was born in Heremakono village, 46 years ago. She is married to a farmer and they have five children together. This loan will enable her to expand her farm and consequently make her self reliant.





About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
