Véronique Tshilomba sells maize and manioc in front of her property. Rice and beans were the first foodstuffs she sold in 1979. Over the years, Véronique acquired a solid experience in this business. The fact that her customers need maize and manioc and the profit she makes from these sales pushed her to opt for these new products.

Obtaining various loans from Hope RDC bolstered her business and helped her progress toward achieving her goal of one day opening a depot for maize and manioc that she would deliver to the mothers in her neighborhood. The loan that she has received this month will be used to buy several sacks of maize and manioc for resale so as to increase her profit.

Presently, her business is generating a profit of US$ 15 per week. Véronique is 59, marrried and the mother of 9 children whose ages vary between 40 and 17. Only two live with her and are enrolled in school, whereas the others are all independent.

Location: Kinshasa, The Democratic Republic of the Congo
