Bahari Group

Veronica Mswao, 32, is married with four children, ages 14, 12, 9 and 7. She also is staying with her mother and father. She has a business selling concrete at a place called Bahari beach, some few kilometers from the city center. She started this business about three years ago. She works from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. She is able to earn a monthly profit of around $75.

This will be Veronica’s third loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to grow her business, paid hospital bills for her parents and has paid back her loan successfully. She wants to use the new loan to buy a fridge to start selling juice, cold water and ice cream at the place where she sells the concrete.

Veronica will share this loan with her group Bahari, which totals 17 members. The members hold each other accountable in paying back their loans. In the picture, Veronica is in the middle of the front row in green.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
