Las Luciernagas Group

Las Luciernagas is a group of twelve women who have businesses in a variety of industries. Maria bakes bread, Tereza sells clothes, Esneide designs and sells her own clothing, Gerardo rents out tables and living room furniture, Elena sells health supplements, Celina has a DJ service, Marlene cleans, and the rest of the women sell food.

Some of the women have a lot of experience in their businesses, like Esneide, who has been in the clothing business for 33 years. On the other hand, Gerardo, Elena and Maribel have only been in their business for one year each.

Eight of the members have taken out loans in the past and the rest of them are borrowing money for the first time. They are all looking forward to growing their businesses with their micro-loans.

About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
