NEWS FROM ANTOINETTE GBEYO

Entrepreneur: Antoinette Gbeyo
Location: Yopougon, Cote D'Ivoire

Gbeyo Antoinette is doing well. We met her on the 17th December 2007, and her business is still performing well. She now contributes perfectly to her household expenses. She hopes to thrive in her business and give better life conditions to her children. It is important that she gives them opportunities that she did not have the good fortune to have herself. She thanks all KIVA lenders for giving a hand to her.

Update on Antoinette Gbeyo and AE&I

Entrepreneur: Antoinette Gbeyo
Location: Yopougon, Cote D'Ivoire

Dear Lender,

This is an update on your loan to Antoinette Gbeyo in Côte d’Ivoire.

Before providing more information about this entrepreneur, we want to let you know that Kiva has terminated its partnership with the Field Partner Afrique Emergence & Investissements (AE&I), who managed this loan. Kiva has collected all outstanding funds, relating to this loan, from AE&I. To learn more about why Kiva has terminated this partnership, visit AE&I’s Field Partner page at: http://www.kiva.org/about/aboutPartner?id=53.

Please read the journal written by Kiva Fellow Megan Berwick for more information about the entrepreneur that you supported.

For over five years, Antoinette Gbeyo has had a stand at the Selmer Market in the Yopougon District of Abidjan. She sells okra, onions, peanuts, and red palm cooking oil. She purchases the red oil in bulk, and so that is her highest margin product to sell.

She has taken three loans from AE&I over the last year, which she has used to expand her inventory. Her first loan was for 25,000 CFA and disbursed on 8/24/07. Over the two month loan term, she repaid the full amount, including interest, of 29,750 CFA. Her second loan was the same loan amount and terms and disbursed on 11/23/07. The third, and most recent loan, was for 30,000 CFA for a period of three months starting on 2/22/08. The full amount of reimbursement was 35,590 CFA.

In this picture, please note that she had a bit of a cold and so put some powder on her throat to keep it dry. Otherwise, her health is in good shape.

Thank you for helping to change the lives of borrowers around the world with Kiva.

Sincerely,

The Kiva Team
