Mercy Manu

Mercy Manu is a mother of five children, two sons and three daughters, all of whom are in school – senior high, junior high and primary schools The first born is in the university. She is forty years old and married. She lives with her children and husband in a rented apartment in Dwenase, a suburb of Sefwi-Wiawso in the western region of Ghana. Mercy’s husband works with the local transport union.

Mercy is a trader. She buys bags of salt from distributors and sells them to retailers and food vendors in her community. She also sells under a shed in the market square and treks to other towns to sell on their market days. She has been in business for six years and wants a loan to buy bags of salt in bulk. She hopes to expand her business and give her children the best of education that she can afford.
