Mr. Mai Roeun, 37, and his wife, Mrs. Sarum Tun, 44, have been married since 1985. They have five children: three sons (all of whom are construction workers), two daughters (one is in school and another daughter is still young). The family lives along National Road Number one, about fifteen kilometers from Phnom Penh City.
Mai has been a construction worker for over 20 years. He works in his village and in the nearby district. His wife stays at home to take care of their children. He hopes to support his daughters’ further education. Mai’s materials and tools are old and some parts break down; it upsets his business because he cannot work smoothly. The construction work is the main source of income for the family. So, he is requesting his first loan of $500 to purchase new construction materials and tools to continue the business.
