Arsenia Desamito

Arsenia Desamito is from the village of Pigsag-an, Cagayan de Oro City. She is 34 years old. Arsenia is married and has four school-aged children. To make a living, Arsenia owns and operates a specialized retail store. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes primarily from selling daily use products such as shampoo, soap and toothpaste in the local community. Arsenia has been engaged in her business for more than five years and earns approximately 5,000 PHP a month for these activities.

In 2008, Arsenia joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Arsenia has successfully repaid a previous loan of 8,000 PHP from HSPFI. This previous loan was used to to buy a lot for the family's house. Arsenia is requesting a new loan of 11,000 PHP (US$250), which will be used to purchase additional products to sell at her store. This loan will be the third loan Arsenia has taken out from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.
