Suraiya Jamil Khan Group

For the past 15 years Suraiya baji, the wife of Jamil Khan, has lived in Lahore, Pakistan a city famous for its historical places and its Punjabi foods. Her husband is a blacksmith who manufactures iron rods that he sells to his customers. Suraiya baji operates a clothes-sewing business to pay for the utilities and to save for rainy days. She is applying for a loan to buy iron for her husband’s business.

The other members of this group are Arshad Begum baji, who wants a loan to buy shoes to sell, and Razia baji, who wants a loan to buy garments to sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
