Mrs. Ketra Korng, 47, and her husband, Mr. Many Un, 49, have been married since 1980. They have four children—two sons and two daughters. One of Ketra’s daughters is a cobber in a shoe factory, one son has full-time employment, the other daughter assists her mother in her scarf weaving business and the youngest son attends school. The family lives along National Road Number one, about fifteen kilometers from Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia.
Ketra has been a scarf weaver since 2000; it’s a skill she learned from her mother. She sells her finished products in Olympic market, located in Phnom Penh. Her husband has been a soldier for over 20 years; he also drives a motor taxi when he has free time to get more extra income.
Ketra has two looms: one for her and another one for her daughter. She is requesting her second loan of 1,000 to purchase cotton threads to continue her scarf weaving business.
