Zulem is 31 years old, has one child, and lives with her husband. She buys chickens from poultry farmers and sells them in a local market in Ayacucho. She used her loan of 2000 soles to purchase furniture for her house such as a microwave and television among other items. She says that although these items have not necessarily helped improve her business, they greatly improved her family’s quality of life. She says that her goals are to keep moving forward with her business and to improve the future of her child.
