Ta Malaneh Enterprise Group

This is a group containing Kadiatu Thoronka, Amie Father, Sallamatu B. Kalokoh, Kadiatu Koroma, and Memunatu Koroma. They are local entrepreneurs in Magburaka town. They named their group Ta Malaneh, which is a Temne phrase meaning, “Let’s embrace each other.” This is not the first loan these entrepreneurs have receivedfrom SMT/Kiva. Previous loans have been of great help to these women. They were able to repay their loans on time and in full, while also feeding their children, paying school fees, and saving some money for unforeseen situations. Having repaid their last loan successfully, they are now requesting a new loan of SLL 1,000,000, for each person, to further strengthen their businesses.

Kadiatu Thoronka (second from right) is the leader of the group. Kadiatu is forty-eight years of age. She is married with five children. Three of her children are already adults, and two are still in school. Kadiatu sells palm-oil (the most popular cooking oil) and has been in business for over twenty-five years.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
