Jumanne Msaty, age 65, is married with three children, ages 28, 24, and 21. He has a "Genge" (Kiswahili for a stand selling fruits and vegetables) business which he started six years ago. He works daily from 5 am until 7:30 pm and is able to earn a monthly profit of around US$ 105.

This will be Jumanne’s 7th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. He used the previous loans to expand the business by buying more fruits and vegetables; he paid school fees and has paid back his loan successfully. He wants a new loan to further increase his stock in the "genge".

Jumanne will share this loan with his loan group, Mapinduzi, which totals 15 members. The members of the group hold each other accountable in paying back their loans. In the picture, Jumanne is the 1st on the right in the blue shirt.

With the loan Jumanne received, he purchased more fruits and vegetables and he is doing very well. With the increased stock his monthly profit rose from $105 to about $114!
