Obdulia helped support her family with an office job in electronics while her husband worked as a car mechanic. When Obdulia was laid off, she saw an opportunity to combine her office experience with her husband’s automotive skills. Using their savings, they opened Family Auto Repair together in 2007. But their savings were not enough to cover essential tools and advertising, and Obdulia’s application for a bank line of credit was denied, leaving them unable to make key investments in their business.
