Rebecca is married has two children. She lives in Acha, Cameroon, outside of a larger town of Belo, where she sells her goods. Using this loan, Rebecca will buy one tin of palm oil, 20 liters of kerosene, one bag of groundnuts (peanuts), 20 litres of groundnut oil, one carton of Baron (a popular boxed wine) and one carton of savon (soap).

With her stall in a good spot, Rebecca is confident in her ability to sell her goods. She is also very friendly to her customers, and to her regular customers, sells to them on credit. Being available is a priority for her, as she sees that to be advantageous in a busy market. The Belo market stretches for over two miles on a busy highway and a seller can easily blend in.

Rebecca recalls a time, in 1994, when she had a serious fall and was admitted to the hospital. That same year, she lost a child.

With the profits from this loan Rebecca will pay for her children’s school fees, try to increase her business by buying a machine that grinds a popular seed, Agusi, and promoting her business more.

This is Rebecca’s second loan from GHAPE since she became a beneficiary in 2007. Rebecca takes out GHAPE loans because of the small repayment installments as well as the opportunity to be more social, as GHAPE meets twice a month.
